New songs in the works

Let's see....Scott is working on a really fearsome set of songs. Believe it or not, one of these tunes is just the greatest little parody about an heroically balding American, while the other is about the funnier side of fear. Bender has something totally whacked and incomprehensible, yet endearing and tender in the hopper. I have one song about divine mistaken identity (JC Drives a Datsun) mostly finished. Another is being radically reinvented and refined (the Star Trekker ode, "Deanna Troi"). I've also got one song about anger and altruism ("share your knuckle sandwiches; jerks are hungry") and one that I almost sent the Dixie Chicks about window shopping for love in your car. Who knows what novel madness Lisa is working on but it most likely involves the words tra and la (at least in the background).

New a cappella covers/parodies coming: "Learning to Fry" (Tom Petty) "In Spite of Ourselves" (J. Prine/I. DeMenthe)

The parrot sits high on the wall under the sign that says Mission City and watches over an array of professionals, slackers and wired SCU law students drinking coffee, all of whom are unaware that they are being observed. Nobody knows how or why the 2-foot-tall parrot got there, but he is just one of those things that never change, just like the classic pastas, sandwiches, soups and salads that keep customers coming back to this friendly cafe.

If Your Bar Could Be Any Animal, What Would It Be?: A parrot (Well, duh..uh!)

The jukebox in my head

I couldn't find the switch to turn it OFF after rehearsal Sunday night so spent the ENTIRE night lying awake with Elwood screaming in my head something about wanting to sing sing and play in a cover band. This is why I don't keep a gun in the house.

More info about gig this Friday

This Friday's gig is at Mission City in Santa Clara. We're still trying to work out if we can get an opening act. Either way it should be a blast! On a completely unrelated note, I though this was pretty good geeky Easter humor... sweet case-mod.

One Of Each of each

A while ago we were contacted by a Portland, Oregon group with the same name. They are a three-piece modern rock band so we're not worried about people mistaking us for them (or visa-versa) but it got me thinking. Wouldn't it be cool if there was another band somewhere named One Of Each that played country music, and another that was a ska band.. and a string quartet and a folk band.. and classic rock. Then we could all form a meta-band called "One Of Each Of Each". We could compose originals from clips of each groups' songs and show up in concert at four different locations simultaneously with mini-bands sliced from pieces of each band. We'd be unclassifiable.. think of the T-shirt possibilities! I'm tellin' you its all about vision.

Latest Goings On

Just to fill you all on what has been going on with One of Each:

Scott just finished his autobiography and will be touring the country promoting "My life as a Bass" and autographing copies for his fans.

Bender has changed his name to Sigfreid Longfellow and he and his wife will be living in a commune up in Berkeley for the next three months.

Taylor has sequestered himself in his bio-research lab until he comes up with a cure for sarcasm.

Lisa is joining the Santa Clara County chapter of the Southern Baptists Evangelism Union, and will be their new treasurer and new member buddy. If you think you might have lost your way please contact Lisa.

In other news, stuffed animals have made a comeback as group names, so we might rename our group to be called "Barney the Telletubby with Blues Clues in his Square Pants". We originally were named "Clifford the Big Red Dog" but decided people might not like red dogs, so we vetoed that name.

Also my house is on fire.
