West Coast A Cappella Summit 2004
We've just recently accepted an invitation to do a set at the Saturday daytime Showcase Concert at the West Coast A Cappella Summit on Saturday November 6th.
For more info check out the Summit web page here!
For some of you this may seem like Déja Vu. Yes we did do the showcase concert last year. No we aren't going to be doing the same set as last year! We'll concentrate on our original material. Fun times. See you there.

Latest Goings On
Just to fill you all on what has been going on with One of Each:
Scott just finished his autobiography and will be touring the country promoting "My life as a Bass" and autographing copies for his fans.
Bender has changed his name to Sigfreid Longfellow and he and his wife will be living in a commune up in Berkeley for the next three months.
Taylor has sequestered himself in his bio-research lab until he comes up with a cure for sarcasm.
Lisa is joining the Santa Clara County chapter of the Southern Baptists Evangelism Union, and will be their new treasurer and new member buddy. If you think you might have lost your way please contact Lisa.
In other news, stuffed animals have made a comeback as group names, so we might rename our group to be called "Barney the Telletubby with Blues Clues in his Square Pants". We originally were named "Clifford the Big Red Dog" but decided people might not like red dogs, so we vetoed that name.
Also the light in your refrigerator is on while the door is closed!

Breaking the Silence
We've been remiss in updating our page lately - but some of the highlights of the past couple of months - we did a gig here in Mountain View (as a trio) - with local a cappella groups the Aquanettas and Hookslide and a fellow Cabaret champ Terese Genecco at the High Tea with the Aquanettas and Friends.
Upcoming we have a show on July 21st at Espresso Garden Cafe - but more than just that it will be a special celebration...details will be forthcoming.

Taylor Translation
For those who don't understand what Taylor's last post was about here is what I gleaned from it - and also from my insider knowledge.
When Bender was a kid he saw some dude who looked just like the picture of Jesus. The dude was driving an old beat up Datsun.
When One of Each was thinking of new songs to sing, Bender said: "I like the title Jesus Drives a Datsun".
Liking the idea, Taylor took the ball and ran with it, creating our latest song Jesus Drives a Datsun...and recently retitled WWJD (What Would Jesus Drive).
In our attempt to not piss off all those Jesus fans out there we would like to inform you that we don't actually know what Jesus drove. And in fact, I think there were not any cars during his lifetime, so this is an entire work of fiction. But still I think the idea of Jesus driving an old Datsun 1200 is pretty funny.
BTW, Taylor's song is pretty funny too. And as he says, we are in the process of recording it.
I'm not sure what the whole "beeaatch" reference is though. :)

Jesus, etc.
What would Jesus Drive??? Jesus drives a Datsun, beeeahtch!
Well, at least that's what a prepubescent Bender thought, poor misguided soul.
I decided that this anecdote created a really fine opportunity to make fun of him in song. (Bender...not Jesus)
Recording is proceeding apace!

More Competitons!
It's official, we are going to be in the San Francisco Harmony Sweepstakes on Saturday February 28th up at the Palace of Fine Arts. It is a great theater, and a fun show. We get to do 10 minutes of our favorite material and hopefully the audience and the judges will like us!
Check out the Harmony Sweepstakes website.
See you there!

More people have heard us!
Tay pointed this out, but I figured I'd put it up here. It seems that someone likes our recording enough to be broadcast on the Lotsa A Cappella Show on KDHX with Marjie Kennedy on January 4th, 2004.
Pretty cool.
They played The Big Fat Elvis Song off of Brief! Now if only payola was still going on we'd be rich....wait a minute...maybe I have that backwards. ;)

Secret Cake Concert
Last night, Brad, Alex, Audrey and I got to see Cake at a tiny little venue in SF, Café du Nord. Although, I did not realize my fantasy of joining John McCrea on stage and performing "Never There" as a duet and making a lifelong friend, I did pass our CD onto a sound engineer type who was very nice and assured me he'd pass it on to John. Hope he likes our cover of his tune! John McCrea was a quirky guy. He seems to have a love-hate relationship with his audience. While fervently hating us, he also seems to crave our approval. Poor guy is conflicted (although I must say the asshole to cool person ratio was dismal in the club). Maybe he should call me and we can talk it over...
